Real Bride Blog: The Cyprian Dream Chelsey and Shane

This has got to one of our favourite things in Love Ellie. Yes, finding the dream dress is the obvious one, the first fit too!! But… The pictures!!! When Chelsey emailed us these unreal images, we could not wait to find out more. This loved up couple met once upon a time at a party! The cocktail fountain broke & Shane, being the chivalrous sort, dismantled the fountain and managed to fill Chelsey’s glass with the delicious cocktail from the lower tier! Long story short, they have been inseparable since, and now we get to hear all about their amazing wedding day! Enjoy the read x

What was the most fun part of your wedding day?

It's hard to pick out the most fun part of the day as the whole day was perfect and better than we could have imagined. Walking back down the aisle as husband and wife, confetti being thrown and everyone excited for the evening celebrations to start was amazing. We also had Cypriot dancers at the reception and they really got everyone on their feet dancing. We had lots of giggles throughout the day, we couldn't take Oakley (Our fur baby) to Cyprus, however we did take a portrait of him and it sat at the end of the aisle, we also had a miniature cake designed especially for him and our guests thought it was so funny!

What kind of ceremony did you guys have?

We always wanted a destination wedding and we chose to get married at the Olympic Lagoon resort in Paphos - Cyprus. We had a really relaxed civil ceremony surrounded by our closest friends and family. We said our vows under beautiful blue skies lined with palm trees, with the ocean waves as the backdrop.

What was your overall wedding style?

Our wedding style was tropical. My bouquet was a lush green tear drop design with pops of light blue. We were really relaxed when it came to the decor and style, the location meant we didn't need to go over the top.

What was your experience like searching for your dress?

My search started well (so I thought) I scoured the internet for weeks and fell in love with style 7117 Stella York, I just couldn't find anywhere in Ireland that had this in stock. I got in touch with Love Ellie and unfortunately, they didn't have this in stock but time was ticking and I booked an appointment to view some other dresses. The team was so kind in helping me but no matter what dress I tried on I couldn't stop thinking about style 7117. Love Ellie offered to get the dress shipped overseas which was so kind!

How did you know it was THE Dress?

Before I left the store my lovely stylist Emma picked out one last dress, one of the first things I said was that I didn't like dresses with thin straps, or anything too big and floaty. As soon as I tried this dress on though I felt different. It was so light and delicate, floral patterns and embellishment that was literally glowing! I went home and after a few days couldn't stop thinking about the dress, I rang Love Ellie cancelled the original order and I went back and tried the dress on and I knew instantly it was the one. I could picture myself walking down the aisle! I felt amazing. The dress was so light and airy, perfect for a beach wedding.

What other accessories did you wear?

I chose not to wear a veil and kept it really simple. I had my hair in loose braids away from my face, with a leaf style hair piece intertwined. Myself and Shane went out on a date before the wedding to pick out some favourite perfumes for each other and picked out our top 3. On the wedding day we surprised each other and since then whenever we use those scents it just takes us back to walking down the aisle! Shane wore Paco Robane (Invictus) and I wore YSL - (Libre)

If you could give brides-to-be one piece of advice, what would it be?

Savour the special moments on your wedding day with your Husband. Make sure you take time to be just together and soak in the atmosphere. One of our favourite moments was our photo shoot and sunset photos, we had some time to watch the sun set whilst our guests were dancing and enjoying the reception.

Also, out of all the dresses that I tried on and liked, I was wondering if everyone would like it, or thought does this suit my style, will it fit in with the theme. But when you actually find 'The' dress, you fall in love with how it feels so much and you actually don't care about what anybody else would think or any of those things as you are so happy in the dress and I think that's how you know it’s the one.
