New to the Bride Blog... Nicole & Brian 17.11.22

Nicole & Brian blew us out of the water with their amazing wedding photos. The charisma, love and fun is evident in every picture. Nicole brought that exact feeling to Love Ellie Bridal the day she came to choose her dress. Can you believe Nicole and Brian are actually childhood sweethearts and originally connected on ‘Bebo’ age 15! They have certainly proven that young love lasts! Now for the juicy bits...

What was the most fun part of your wedding day?

The whole day was magical. Like everything I had imagined. From start to finish we had the best time ever. We never stopped dancing! No wonder I had my Louboutins whipped off and my Doc Martens on before the starters!

But if I had to pick one thing, it was the singing waiters, called Loveshack. They were absolutely brilliant. No one had a clue, only myself, Brian & my Mam knew. One of my husband’s uncles was going to have a row with one of them..... it was so funny to watch! Highly recommend these for your wedding.

One special moment for me was before I put my wedding dress on. I had brought my Mam’s wedding dress and jacket down to the venue. She had no idea. I told everyone to sit in the room before I did my reveal. But instead it was my Mam’s wedding dress and she was shocked. My Mam and Dad would have been 30 years married that Saturday, so it was a very special moment.

What kind of ceremony did you guys have?

We had our ceremony in Cabra Castle and the lovely Lorraine from Celebrant Ireland officiated. It was a secular ceremony. We added all our favourite songs to the ceremony. Lorraine also included a love story about Brian and I which made it extra special.

What was your overall wedding style?

My colours were red, black and blue. The wedding itself was black tie. My bridesmaids wore lipstick red dresses with a hint of blue everywhere. I incorporated the blue in memory of my dad who unfortunately is no longer with us. My go to style is pin up normally with victory rolls hair.... and I wanted to bring this sort of style to the wedding overall. We had disco balls at the ceremony and then a massive lightning bolt light at the wedding reception! The theme overall was so mixed but yet so me and Brian!

What was your experience like searching for your dress?

It’s a very overwhelming thing. As you presume you will try on the first dress and that will the one. There are just so many different styles and designers to choose from. I didn’t know where to start. I had joined a wedding group on Facebook. This was so helpful through all my planning. Any questions you had they were answered straight away from suppliers or previous brides. Love Ellie Bridal came highly recommended by most people. So I booked straight away!

How did you know it was THE Dress?

So I booked the appointment for April. Unfortunately my Mam wasn’t able to go as she had covid. So Myself and my best mate El went. I had looked on the website before the appointment and I saw the Vera Wang dresses but wasn’t sure as I am curvy, big bum, small waist etc. I was awkward for most dresses. When I got to Love Ellie Bridal the experience was amazing from start to finish. I explained to Rosa exactly the style I was going for. She picked 5-6 dresses that were amazing and suited my shape. I had asked her if I could try on the Vera Wang one. It was the second dress I tried on. The minute she zipped it up I knew within seconds. The curtain was pulled so my friend El couldn’t see, El also had my Mam on facetime so she didn’t miss out. I remember shouting ‘’No El this is it, this is the one’’. When the curtain was pulled El’s face dropped so I knew! It was exactly my sort of style.

What other accessories did you wear?

I wouldn’t be a big jewellery person. But I wore a pearl bracelet my brother had got me for my 21st birthday. It was the Grace Kelly collection from Newbridge and my Mam’s pearl earrings to match (something borrowed)

If you could give brides-to-be one piece of advice, what would it be?

I highly recommend spending as much time with your partner on the big day. On Facebook previous brides had mentioned that they barely spent any time with their partner on the day and had regretted it. So I made sure we did loads together. Go off for a drink together, chat together, toilet breaks go together. We did this and it was amazing. You have to remember this day is about you two and no one else. Other advice I highly recommend is to plan what pictures you want with your photographer in advance. The day runs away so fast and there were so many more pictures I wanted to get but time just ran out. So plan exactly what ones you want. Also ENJOY THE DAY! It was honestly the best day ever.
