Harrogate Buying Trip – Bridal Trends

Updated: Feb 28, 2020

It’s that time of year again, Autumn has crept in and the latest collection of wedding dresses are coming up behind it. Which can only mean one thing… It’s time for the Harrogate Bridal Show!

The Harrogate Bridal show is the biggest of its kind in Europe. It features some of the world’s top wedding designers and brings together boutiques from all over the world to view their amazing collections. With that and with bubbly in hand we headed on in to find some beautiful wedding dresses to add to the Love Ellie family...

We first made our way to see some of our favourite Australian bridal designers…. Martina

Liana and Stella York. The wedding dresses were beautifully displayed among wooden furniture with a certain rustic charm and gorgeous greenery. Definitely a décor theme that we will be seeing more of in our 2020 and 2021 weddings.

For the classic bride who wants that dramatic twist, designer Martina Liana has nailed it! With her forever long and beautifully detailed trains…..Martina Liana blew us away. She effortlessly combined the most luxurious fabrics (soft Bellagio crepes, intricate laces and Zibeline silks) with hand beaded detailing to create absolute show stoppers which we cannot wait to get onto the boutique rails! Also check out these soft square plunging necklines, these newbies were a definite highlight of our visit.

Martina Liana’s fellow Australian designer – the forever amazing Stella York surprises us each year with more exciting new wedding dress styles for our Love Ellie Brides. Her new collection features a simple yet classic approach to detail with more of an emphasis on creating killer structured gowns. Something our brides are going to love! There is something about a Stella York dress that seems to look amazing on every bride no matter the body shape or size. She is for the classic romantic brides.

We adore visiting Watters Wtoo and seeing what exciting new looks they’ve created and they never disappoint! Watters dresses feature some of the most feminine laces yet remaining quirky and modern - an ethereal bride’s dream! For those who want to really to stand out from the crowd, for the cool alternative brides - Watters is a dream designer for you.

A clear trend we can see this season are clean cut lines and silhouettes paired with simple but elegant detailing. Strapless dresses have made a comeback featuring dramatic necklines and bust detail. The square neckline is going to be a popular choice for future brides. Lace sleeved dresses are something each designer has featured in their new collections as well as the forever timeless ballgown. For that dream fairytale wedding.

And lets face it.. who doesn’t dream of that fairytale wedding!
